## Summary

You can organise a Paraguay residency application yourself, or pay for help with preparation and the local process. The difference is who manages the work, not who decides your application. Compare the written scope, your available time and the full cost of travel and administration.

---
A DIY application can make sense if you can handle Spanish-language administration, have time in Paraguay and are comfortable coordinating the documents and appointments. Professional support can make sense if you want the preparation checked, local assistance during your visit and someone coordinating the next stages.

We sell that support, so this is not an independent agency ranking. Here is the practical comparison we would make before choosing either route.

## Compare the work, not just the quoted price

| Task | If you organise it yourself | With NTH's Premium+ service |
|---|---|---|
| Choose the immigration route | Check the category and requirements against your circumstances | Discuss nationality, residence history and the proposed route with the team |
| Obtain home-country records | Order the correct originals and authentication | You still obtain your records; the team gives preparation guidance and a pre-check |
| Arrange the visit | Coordinate appointments, transport and any interpretation | Local appointment assistance, interpretation and airport pickup are included |
| Submit the application | Attend and follow the authority's process | Attend the required appointments with support |
| Follow the next stages | Track progress and organise subsequent documents | Coordinate follow-through through your client portal and WhatsApp group |
| Company, banking and tax administration | Engage providers separately if needed | Discuss the company, banking applications and first-year accounting scope together |

An agency cannot attend every step in your place. Migraciones publishes the [temporary-residence requirements](https://migraciones.gov.py/residencia-temporal/), including the documents and in-person application process. Read our [document checklist](/blog/posts/paraguay-residency-requirements) before deciding how much support you want.

## Put a value on your time in Paraguay

Count more than the hours at the immigration office. You may need time for records, certified copies, translations, travel between appointments and correcting a document that does not meet the requirement.

NTH currently plans an initial visit around 4–6 days for appointments. That is our service planning estimate, not a promise that all cards arrive in that week. Government processing and later stages continue afterwards. The [visits and timeline guide](/blog/posts/paraguay-residency-days-and-timeline) separates those stages.

One useful question is: “If a document needs replacing, how much flexibility do I have?” Someone with an open travel schedule may make a different decision from someone taking a fixed week away from work. Neither choice changes the authority's requirements.

## Compare like-for-like costs

Our current [Premium+ service](/services) is US$5,950 and covers more than the immigration application. It includes company-formation and banking-application support, plus first-year accounting and the other items listed in the written scope.

Do not compare that price with a government application fee as if they buy the same thing. For each route, write down:

- Government and document charges.
- Authentication, translation and certified copies.
- Flights, accommodation and local transport.
- Any separate legal, accounting, company or banking support.
- Later applications and recurring administration.

An included Paraguay lease is separate from accommodation. Keep both lines in your budget. See the [cost breakdown](/blog/posts/paraguay-tax-residency-cost-2026) for the categories to compare.

## What an agency should be accountable for

The useful commitment is a clear scope: which documents it checks, which appointments it supports, who handles questions and how you receive updates. Approval dates and bank acceptance are decisions made by the relevant authority or provider.

On our services page, Joel describes being collected and accompanied through his paperwork appointments. Julia describes having her questions answered throughout the visit. Those are examples of the support customers valued, not guarantees about your approval time or tax result. You can [watch their accounts](/services#clients).

## A practical way to choose

Choose DIY if you want to run the process and have the time and language support to do it. Consider an agency if you want coordination and a defined support arrangement, particularly when the residency application is part of a wider company and banking setup.

Before paying any provider, compare its proposal using our [agency-selection questions](/blog/posts/choose-paraguay-residency-agency). If you want to discuss NTH's scope, [apply for a service consultation](/application). You do not need to buy the masterclass first.

Once you decide you want professional help, use our [provider-selection checklist](/blog/posts/choose-paraguay-residency-agency) to compare written proposals and ongoing responsibilities.
