## Summary

Paraguay residency concerns your personal immigration and tax position. A US LLC is a separate business entity that can support contracts, invoicing and banking applications. Combining them does not automatically remove tax, reporting obligations or bank eligibility requirements.

Some clients want Paraguay as a personal base while using a US company for their international business. NTH's Premium+ service includes US LLC formation, an EIN, company-address support and help with banking applications. That is a service scope, not a conclusion that an LLC is right for every client.

Start by separating four questions: where you personally live and work, what the company does, which accounts it needs, and what each jurisdiction requires you to report.

## What does each part do?

| Part | Its role | What it does not establish by itself |
|---|---|---|
| Paraguay residence documents | Evidence of your immigration status | That your previous country has stopped treating you as tax resident |
| Paraguay tax registration or certificate | The applicable local tax-administration process | The tax treatment of every income stream in every country |
| US LLC | A business entity for the agreed commercial activity | Automatic exemption from tax or reporting |
| EIN | A US federal tax identifier | Bank approval or permission to live in the US |
| Business account | Receipts and payments in the company's name | That all receipts are foreign-source or tax-free |

## Check the company's tax classification

The IRS treats a domestic single-member LLC as disregarded for federal income-tax purposes by default unless it elects corporate treatment. Multi-member LLCs generally have a different default classification. “Disregarded” describes tax treatment; it does not mean the entity has no obligations. [IRS LLC guidance](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/single-member-limited-liability-companies).

Tell your adviser who owns the company, whether it has made an election and where its activity occurs. Adding another owner or changing the activity can change the analysis. Do not copy another nomad's structure without checking those facts.

## Where you perform the work matters

For personal-service income, the IRS generally looks to where the services are performed, rather than where the payer lives or the payment arrives. That is one US sourcing rule, not a complete answer for every business or country. [IRS personal-service income guidance](https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/source-of-income-personal-service-income).

For example, an independent consultant needs to record where they perform the work as well as which entity invoices the client. A US customer, US account and US company are three separate facts. Your personal tax residence and the rules of the countries where you work still need their own assessment.

Bring your travel pattern, client contracts, ownership details and expected activities to the consultation. If you already have a company, compare keeping it with forming another one before paying for duplication.

## Tax payable and reporting are different questions

A foreign-owned US disregarded entity can have Form 5472 obligations for reportable transactions, with a pro forma Form 1120. Contributions and distributions can matter, not just sales invoices. The IRS instructions describe the applicable rules and penalties. [Form 5472 instructions](https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i5472).

Ask your preparer to confirm which federal and state filings apply, the deadlines, what records they need and who submits each return. Do not assume a zero tax bill means there is nothing to file. Keep company and personal transfers documented so the preparer can classify them correctly.

NTH's service includes a US filing concierge and first-year basic Paraguay accounting. Your written scope should identify the work and covered period. It should also explain what you must supply to the preparer. See [the service inclusions](/services#packages).

## Banking checks both the business and the person

Company registration does not let you substitute a company mailing address for your actual residential address. Wise's US business checks, for example, ask about the business trading address and the owners' residential details. Eligibility is assessed against the provider's current requirements. [Wise US business verification](https://wise.com/help/articles/2953878/how-do-i-verify-my-us-business).

Check the business activity, trading location, ownership, personal residence, supported countries and evidence requirements before depending on a particular account. Keep a working payment route during the application process. Our [Paraguay banking guide](/blog/posts/paraguay-residency-banking) compares the jobs that personal and company accounts perform.

## Questions to settle before incorporating

- What commercial purpose will the LLC serve?
- Does it improve on an existing company, or duplicate it?
- How will each relevant country treat the company and its income?
- Which bank or payment provider fits the real activity and addresses?
- Who handles federal, state and Paraguay obligations, and what will that cost after year one?
- What changes if you stop travelling, add a partner or close the business?

This guide is a preparation framework, not an individual tax opinion. Use it to have a more useful conversation with the relevant advisers. If you want NTH to assess the service scope for your circumstances, [apply for a call](/application).
